Register to run for delegate by March 31, 5:00 pm!
Delegates will introduce themselves at our April 3 monthly meeting.

32nd members will then vote online to elect delegates on April 6.

April 3 Monthly Meeting

Results from Washington’s presidential primary are in. President Joe Biden received over 84% of the vote and 90 of 92 pledged delegates.

Who those delegate are depend on us. On April 6, members of the 32nd LD will elect delegates, online, to represent us at the State Convention and elect delegates to the national convention. Right now, we are still short on our numerical goals to have a full delegation, especially our affirmative action goals (Latino/Black/Asian-American/Youth/LGBTQ+/People with a disability).

Everyone who considers themself to be a Democrat can represent us this year. High school students and middle school students who want to be more active in their communities are highly encouraged to runRegister today.

We need help in the 32nd LD to help build our organization and help us get out the vote in November. Help rewrite our 32nd LD platformSign up here

Our work, our success in 2024 depends on all of us doing our part to build a strong Democratic Party and support our Democratic candidates.

In just a couple weeks, we begin the process of selecting our Democratic Party nominee for President. I have already turned in my ballot for the March 12 election.

PCOs and eligible members of the district will elect delegates to represent the 32nd LD at the State Convention, and those delegate will elect Washington’s representatives to the Democratic National Convention. That said, if you want to vote on our district’s delegation, you must pay your dues or ask me for a waiver or reduction of dues by the end of March.

Candidate for Washington State Lands Commissioner
(video at 27:27-37:49)

Candidate for Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction
(video at 37:52-46:55)
Chris Reykdal (Incumbent): The bottom line — we’ve never seen such a big cultural war and attack on education in our lives. Immigration and US/Mexican Border Issues
(video at 58:19-1:26:44)
King County Council Member Jorge L. BarónWe are operating with an outdated immigration system that we have not changed since the 1990s. The outdated legal pathways have created a backlog in the refugee system. And, we have seen some tremendous disruptions in places around the world which has led to more people leaving their countries to seek asylum in the U.S. These are our challenges.

Candidate for Washington State Attorney General
(video at 1:26:46-1:38:50)
Elias Gonzalez, representing Candidate Manka Dhingra:. She is a decades long senior deputy prosecutor with a focus in mental health and domestic violence.

(video at 2:09:45-2:21:16)
Report from the 32nd LD Ad Hoc Committee on Public School Funding
Elizabeth Lunsford, PCO: There is a lot of misinformation out there about how our schools are funded. I’m looking into the Edmonds School District Citizen’s Guide to the Budget. Right now, levies are just making up the shortcomings of the state and the state needs to fix this.

0:37 Approval of the May 3 and May 24 minutes, without objection.

1:22 Speaker
Dan Jacoby – The Good Neighbor Program
This presentation is based mostly on my time as a PCO in Shoreline, Precinct 32-0558 and is about building a stronger grassroots organization in the Democratic Party. We have to break through the rightwing controlled media and social media that relies on algorithms showing people what they want to hear and not what’s needed. We need PCOs to personally contact their neighbors and listen to their concerns. PCOs are knowledgeable about local politics and can be a conduit to help neighbors advocate for solutions to local problems. Active PCOs are essential for elevating people to run for offices such as school board; water district; or to be appointed to planning commissions. The goal is to build the party from the ground up.

Other races, who are not appearing on the August 1 ballot, may be considered at our August membership meeting.

Here is a quick summary of our endorsement meeting rules:
1. Candidates will need a member to nominate them from the floor if not recommended for endorsement.
2. Multiple endorsements for the same office are allowed. Motions to endorse a candidate are voted on individually.
3. The candidate (or substitute spokesperson authorized in writing) will be given two (2) minutes to present reasons for endorsement.
4. Then there will be a question-and-answer (Q&A) period (of up to three minutes per candidate) for a panel composed of all potential endorsees in the race.
5. Each question may last up to fifteen (15) seconds, and each answer may last up to thirty (30) seconds.
6. Up to four speakers, alternating pro and con are allowed on the motion to endorse a candidate. Those speeches may last up to 30 seconds. If there is no speaker against the motion to endorse, there will be no additional pro speeches.
7. For endorsement, a candidate must receive a 60% threshold vote.
8. With the exception of a slate, all nominated candidates will receive individual votes.
9. Only candidates who publicly identify as a Democrat, or have openly participated as a Democrat, as a matter of public record, may be endorsed.
